All the single ladies are going to be pushing football fanatics aside to get a glimpse at the 2013 Super Bowl. Beyonce in all her glory will hit the stage for the Super Bowl’s biggest event: the Pepsi NFL Halftime Show.
Beyonce laid rumors to rest by posting a photo of herself on her official website. The picture features Queen Bey with puckered red lips and the date of the Super Bowl, “FEB 3 2013” written in traditional football eye black underneath her wide brown eyes. The NFL further confirmed the news on Oct. 16 by tweeting “Beyonce will perform @pepsi #SB47 Halftime Show in New Orleans. Feb. 3 2013 on @cbs.”
This is the first time since 2004 that a solo female act under the AARP age limit will rock a Super Bowl halftime show. The last to do so was Janet Jackson who infamously stole the show in 2004, and we all remember how that went down – or, rather, what popped out. Beyonce’s halftime gig will be broadcast on CBS, which is the same network that captured Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” during her performance with Justin Timberlake.
Billboard.com believes that if Sasha Fierce were to be joined on stage during the Pepsi NFL Halftime Show, it could possibly involve former Destiny Child members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, and/or her husband, Jay-Z.
Beyonce’s performance will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome located in New Orleans on Feb. 3, 2013. Last year, Madonna’s halftime show was seen by a total of 114 million people. Will 16-time Grammy award winner Beyonce top Madonna by reeling in more views? Start the countdown until Bey shakes up the stadium.
