Add one to the surprisingly short list of Kanye West/Rihanna collabs. Rather than a full-on remix, Kanye jumps in at the beginning of the track for a verse, making references to his usual favorites: expensive clothes, naked girls, and strangely enough, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Tay Zonday’s Chocolate Rain. No changes have been made to RiRi’s flawless vocals, but they were cut short to make room for Kanye’s ferocious but mediocre wordplay.
Although I expected an actual remix rather than a two-minute verse, I feel as if Jay-Z rather than Kanye would have made the single feel more complete. Jay did practically make the Roc Nation diamond hand sign iconic. Not to say Kanye didn’t come in a close second. Listen for yourself and decide.
