This Week on The Hype Machine Contributer December 15, 2013 Blogs The Hype Machine keeps track of what music bloggers write about. Here are a few of last week’s most blogged tracks that are TURNING UP. Vancouver Sleep Clinic This three-piece, Brisbane, Australia, band released two songs that exploded on The Hype Machine last week. The first, “Vapour,” exhibits Bon Iver inspired vocals and instrumentation that call you to move your entire life to the woods somewhere. The second, “Collapse,” provides a similar experience, but climbs to a euphoric chorus during which lead vocalist Tim Bettinson showcases his rich vocal talent. Bettinson, who is only 17 years old, provides what blog “The Ripe” calls, “substantial, stylistically and innovative” music. In a year of break out 17-year-olds like Lorde and Martin Garrix, Vancouver Sleep Clinic is one to watch in the coming months. Cashmere Cat Norwegian Producer Cashmere Cat (aka Magnus August), who opened for the most recent Bandersnatch show featuring Hudson Mohawke, was the fourth most blogged about artist on The Hype Machine this past week. His original track, “With Me,” is a track that combines elements of dubstep and trap music with an elegant piano riff to yield surprisingly beautiful results. This track makes Cashmere Cat’s forthcoming EP, Wedding Bells, one to look forward to in the coming year. Marvin Gaye – Sexual Healing (Kygo Remix) No matter how hard Robin Thicke tries, there will only ever be one Marvin Gaye. Kygo enhances this throwback track with synth riffs reminiscent of Avicii’s “Levels” that boost this 1982 classic to the modern day. The result is a well-done remix that could both begin or end a legendary night out on the Syracuse campus.
